Canadian Sea Terminal Doubles Capacity with APM Tools

A not-for-profit generation & transmission co-op in Kentucky engaged Nexus Global to prepare for an IBM Maximo implementation. Using the APM Optimizer™ approach, we’re developing the complete asset register and asset classifications across facilities to accelerate adoption and reliable reporting.
Brief overview of the cooperative’s generation & transmission scope and service territory.
To ensure Maximo delivers value on day one, the co‑op needed a complete, standardized asset register and classifications that support planning, cost rollups, and reliability reporting across sites.
"The company is rolling out Maximo throughout the organization and it has been riddled with delays and inconsistencies,” indicates Doug Robey, President of Nexus Global. “One site, in particular, is proactive in becoming Maximo ready and will have a smoother rollout and a well-prepared adoption process for the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system of choice."
Build multi‑level hierarchy across facilities
Align roll‑ups to planning, cost, and KPI reporting
Define classes with required attributes and units
Configure picklists and validation rules; assign data owners
Normalize code sets to improve closeout quality
Map codes to dashboards and KPIs
Template lists and forms that reflect the standard
Governance: owners, change control, and audits
Faster planning, accurate cost rollups, and trustworthy KPIs in Maximo—raising user adoption and shortening time‑to‑value.
Shared standards reduce support burden, keep data clean across plants, and accelerate onboarding of new sites and crews.
Asset data quality directly affects how effectively an EAM or CMMS can support maintenance, planning, reporting, and reliability. Establishing accurate asset records, hierarchies, classifications, attributes, and standardized codes before implementation helps organizations start with a trusted data foundation rather than correcting problems after go-live.
Learn more about improving asset data quality with Data Optimizer™.
An EAM or CMMS provides the system for managing asset and maintenance information, while Asset Performance Management (APM) connects that information with maintenance strategies, reliability processes, analytics, governance, and continuous improvement. Nexus Global’s integrated architecture positions platforms such as Maximo as the execution layer while the APM Optimizer Suite supports data, strategy, planning, and investigation processes around it.
